Ferret racing, sheep racing and a cooked breakfast....

Well I have just got in from a very enjoyable day out with my daughter and Noah, we went to Cannon Hall Farm (see link).  It has been a beautiful day here today, blue skies, sunshine and quite mild.  We arrived at around 11.30 am and as we were both hungry we had a full english breakfast...everything that was in the breakfast is produced from the livestock from the farm, and it was truly one of the best breakfasts I have ever tasted.  We then went for a nice stroll around the grounds and had a wander around the garden centre there to walk off all the calories we had eaten.

They have a children's petting farm there too and we took Noah to see all the animals.  We watched the ferret racing (which was hilarious), and then went to see the sheep racing, you could put a bet on if you wanted to...it was called The Sheepstakes (ha ha).  There were lots of new born lambs too, and we witnessed a little lamb just being born.  So all in all it was a really nice day, and I am sure that Noah will appreciate it much more when he is a little older, he was very good though and when I took him to see the cows his face was picture...he couldn't quite decide whether to laugh or cry.

Since I have been home I have built up the new high chair I bought last weekend for Noah, and I think I will just put my feet up and relax a bit now...all the fresh air has made me sleepy.smiley-nap-sleep-couch.gif (63×49)

Housework, Noah and my new handbag......

Had a busy morning doing boring housework...needs must.  I was awaiting my new handbag being delivered, and because I had no idea what time it would get here I daren't get in the shower, so I pottered about doing bits and pieces of this, that and t'other...when I eventually went on-line, I realised that they had sent me an  E Mail giving me the delivery time (between 2.35 and 3.35 pm), how good is that.  I was very impressed.  So I could then enjoy a nice relaxing shower without worrying that they would take my much looked forward to bag away again.thumbsup-thumbs-up-approve-ok-smiley-emoticon-000283-facebook.gif (110×110)

After lunch my daughter arrived with little Noah, who was as adorable as ever...he is sooooooo cheerful.bebe7.gif (88×88)

My handbag arrived at the designated time, and I love it...the smell of the leather is gorgeous and I am so looking forward to giving it its first outing.

I have just eaten dinner and am now about to put on my pj's and watch some recorded stuff...a glass of sparkling wine will be joining me.7_4_33.gif (83×83)

In other news, the close encounter with the asteroid seems to have left us unscathed as it came so very close to the earth at 7.25 pm...I watched it live on-line.....PHEW.scared-and-sweating-smiley-emoticon.gif (113×88)

I knew it would snow again.....

after I had had my windows cleaned yesterday...typical.  It has been snowing quite heavily all afternoon here, but in the last half hour it has turned to rain.  I am glad the rain has arrived as I won't have to go out and clear the paths or my car (lazy me).  Tomorrow the temperatures are supposed to be on the rise...hooray.sunbathing.gif (94×76)

My daughter and her OH took little Noah to the swimming pool today, and it was supposed to be for babies and toddlers on Wednesdays (according to the internet), however, my daughter said the pool was absolutely freezing and really shallow...the only children that were enjoying it were the toddlers who could run around happily.  My daughter said that she thought it would be deep enough for her to get her shoulders under the water so she could play around bouncing Noah up and down...instead she just had to crouch down and dangle him in the water...of course he cried and hated it.  Her OH complained and said it wasn't what they had described on the internet and that it was useless for babies, and if they had wanted to sit in cold water they could have done it at home in the bath, they apologised and gave them a £15 token to be used when the pool is open for everyone, enabling Noah to go into the big pool which he wasn't allowed to do today.  So, it looks like it was a wasted journey.tenerife-forum-swimming-smiley.gif (79×28)

I have been really naughty today and ordered myself a bracelet and a new handbag on-line...I blame the snow for keeping me inside.Smiley.WhistlingGuiltyAni.gif (35×24)

A day doing absolutely nothing.....

Well I had a rubbish night's sleep...it took me ages to drop off.  I have absolutely no idea what time I eventually did go to sleep as I don't clock watch during the night otherwise it makes it worse...so I slept in until 9.00 am, and I could have actually stopped in bed longer but I made myself get up.yawn.gif (32×32)

I had a shower and washed my hair and then prepared a large beef casserole, and I have had a large bowl full for dinner...tomorrow I shall puree it and make a nice soup and then freeze it.

The window cleaners have been at last...my windows were looking pretty yukky due to all the rain, snow and sleet we have had of late.  I can now see outside again.cleaning-windows-214.gif (39×30)

I have done nothing productive really today and I ended up napping for an hour this afternoon.  I popped up to the local shop to get my TV Times and some eggs...and that is the my day (BORING).smiley_bored.gif (43×43)

Just hope I sleep well tonight.

Sorting out the Naming Day......

Brrrrrrrrrr, very cold here...but YIPPEEEEEEEEE we don't have any snow.hooray.gif (50×30)

I've been out with my daughter and Noah this afternoon to a local hotel to book Noah's naming day next month, we have chosen the menu and paid the deposit.  We stayed and had coffee and then headed to the supermarket.  I pushed the pushchair whilst my daughter did her shopping, and even though she had a list she kept forgetting things and we kept on having to backtrack...she is so used to shopping on-line and having it delivered that she is so disorganised.  We got there eventually.

I waited until she unpacked her shopping and played with Noah before heading home...there are roadworks at the end of our road and it is a nightmare, they are putting in a new roundabout so it looks like it will be a long drawn out job.

I have started The South Beach Diet today, it is a low carb diet and I have to stay on it for a fortnight before I can start to introduce certain foods.  It does work as I have done it before a couple of years ago.

Crikey, my feet are cold as the heating was off when I got in and it is only just warming up...I think I had better go and put some warm socks on.th_winter-7650.gif (82×87)

No snow as yet.....

and I hope it stays that way...it is raining though, but I don't mind. animated-smileys-weather-012.gif (45×55)

Well last night on my babysitting duties, little Noah wasn't very good at staying asleep...he kept on waking up crying every half hour or so, and eventually I brought him downstairs and he slept in my arms until my daughter arrived home (it was on my daughter's orders that I should bring him downstairs if he wouldn't settle).  member-piwoslaw-albums-smileys-picture2658-whhaaaa-baby-cry-whhaaaa-smiley-emoticon-000822-large.gif (139×155)

She said their meal was very nice, but on the way home they were stopped by the Police as they had a headlight not working...my daughter was driving and they also breathalysed her, fortunately she never drinks alcohol when she drives so everything was ok, however I think it slightly marred their evening out.  Her OH has gone to get a new light today.

I slept in this morning until 9.30 am (which is late for me), and apart from having 3 telephone conversations with various people, I haven't done much else.  Like I said earlier, it is raining here and has been for most of the day, so not a nice day to be out and about.

I am going to have an early night tonight as I still feel tired despite my lie in.

Charity shop again......

Well, all the books, dvd's and cd's have now been taken to the charity shop this afternoon...not the same charity shop I took the last stuff to...I refuse to take anything more to them for being so unhelpful.  So I can now get on with more de-cluttering.   At this rate my house will be empty.

It's been a lovely day here today, blue skies and sunshine...this has to change tomorrow apparently, although the weather forecasters seem a little unsure where the snow is going to actually fall as yet, and how much we are going to have.  I just hope it doesn't cause much disruption...I HATE THE SNOW.
winter_please_please_go_away.png (800×580)
I have also been to Argos and bought a high chair to keep here at my house for Noah as he is now eating proper baby food...it will be much easier.  It needs assembling, so that will be a job for tomorrow.

I cleaned my car out too this afternoon, I vacuumed it and gave it a good dust inside.  It could do with going through the car wash too, but I will wait to see whether or not we get the snow or not yet, otherwise it will be a waste of time.

I am going to babysit Noah tonight, as my daughter and her OH are going out for a meal to celebrate his promotion at work...I shall take my kindle and a magazine to read as the tv tonight looks rubbish as usual.

Fish and Chip Friday......

My daughter came with Noah this morning and we went to a lovely fish and chip restaurant nearby for lunch...the portions are huge and come with tea and bread and butter, it was delicious.  Noah slept the whole time we were in there in his pushchair.  My daughter had a naughty dessert, but I was very good and abstained.

fish-n-chips.jpg (500×375)

We then went into town as my daughter wanted to buy some material as she loves sewing.  I bought some books for Noah to go into his little toy box that arrived yesterday.  I have some toys in there too that I ordered for him, so that my daughter doesn't have to trail anything with her when she comes to my house.  Somehow, a bag of sweets ended up in my basket too (so much for me not having the dessert).

I have de-cluttered my bookcase this evening and now have a huge pile of books to take to the charity shop next week.  I am keeping up to my de-cluttering promise of getting rid of a few things each day...it is unbelievable how much stuff I have and don't use.   I am hoping to downsize my house at some point and want to make it easier for when I move.

Had a lovely chat with my son on the phone, and I can't wait for him to come home again at Easter.

I'm not really hungry tonight after the fish and chips, so I have just had a couple of slices of cheese on toast.

I will have a nice vodka and tonic tonic and watch some stuff I have on record.

Supermarket and sleeeeeeeep......

I needed to go to the supermarket today...(the cupboards are bare and all that), I do it on-line when my son is home from uni as he eats like a horse and we go through large amounts of food.  However, when there is just little old me, I don't eat as much *cough*, and I like to browse the shelves to see what's new...you can never really do this properly on-line.  I set the alarm for a reasonable time, but when it actually went off I was so cosy and warm, plus I was still very tired so I stuck out my hand and switched it off again.  I was just dozing back off again when the telephone rang...it was my son, and I was quite glad he rang as it woke me up and made me get out of my lovely warm pit.  Once I am actually up and about I am ok. asleep-045.gif (59×53)

So I wandered around the shops for a bit and then headed to Sainsbury's, where I spent more than I should have done...however, it is all good healthy stuff, as I am determined to start cutting the carbs come Monday. It is a diet I have followed before and it really really works for me.  I think seeing myself in a pair of slim cut trousers did it for me...OMG what a sight for sore eyes. thumb_smileyvault-cute-big-smiley-static-024.gif (59×59)

I came home, had lunch, did some paperwork and then accidentally fell asleep whilst being tucked up under my fur throw *ahem*.  Crikey it is bitterly cold here today, and apparently it says on the news that "substantial" snow is on it's way on Sunday...oh joy of joys. 10755-5e9c45f7504b7b8272e6a665716b5091.jpg (118×105)

My daughter rang to say that her OH had been offered a promotion at work and he is over the moon.  I am so pleased for him as he works so hard.  She also said that she felt a bit yucky...earache, sore throat and feeling a bit dizzy, and as soon as her OH comes home from work she said she is going to bed.  I have told her that if she still feels unwell in the morning, she has to ring me and I will look after little Noah whilst she goes back to bed for a while.

More de-cluttering.....

I've been busy de-cluttering again today...I have got rid of loads of books, dvd's and shoes.  I packed them all up and took them into town to the charity shop.

Now here's me going into Grumpy Old Woman mode again...the staff in the particular charity shop were absolutely useless, unhelpful and unfriendly...I struggled into the shop several times as I couldn't carry it all in one trip and not once did any of the staff offer to hold the door open for me, they just looked on as I struggled with the door by myself.  They didn't offer to take any of the stuff from me either, they just grunted and pointed to a door at the back of the shop where I was supposed to offload my wares.  The things I took weren't shoddy rubbish, but things that I had looked after carefully.  I am sure I could have got myself some money by selling them on Ebay or some other site.  So, I'm afraid that particular charity shop will NEVER receive any more of my things......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.   Honestly some people.

bad-customer-service1.png (550×344)
I have also coloured my hair today...goodbye grey hairs.c0208.gif (48×34)

I have just eaten a very healthy tea...a large salad with a lemon and chilli chicken breast...very yummy indeed.

Damaged parcels....

What do delivery men do with packages and parcels, as the parcel I received today from Amazon looked like it had been used as a football.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.  The box was all ripped down one side, but luckily the contents weren't damaged.  I had sent off for some little books for Noah which I will keep at my house for when he comes to see me.

Brrrrrrrrrrr, it has been bitterly cold here today with snow, hail, rain and wind...I can't wait for warm summery days (that's if we get some).th_Emotionrainy_cloudspongygirl81672Ph.gif (108×63)

I went to my daughter's this afternoon, she said she had been to Asda and Noah had cried for most of the time she was in there...typical.

She was very naughty and had bought us both a doughnut each...it would have been unkind to have turned it down.foretnoire.gif (89×74)

Had a lovely afternoon playing with Noah.  I set off home later than normal and got caught up in the rush hour traffic...I won't make that mistake again.th_driving_smiley.gif (60×60)

Just had a catch up with my son on the phone and I am now going to find something to eat before watching some stuff I have recorded.

Monday 4 February 2013

Crikey it's windy out there....

What a blustery day it's been here today...however, this fox wasn't bothered about it.  I had to rush to grab my camera when I saw it strolling across my lawn this afternoon...

I haven't really done much today other than put a load of washing on and venturing out for bread and eggs.  I slept in until 9.00 am as this weekend has been one of late nights and not much sleep...I am still tired now.

I had a lovely weekend with my friend who lives in Denby Dale.  We have known each other for years and she used to be my next door neighbour many moons ago.  We went out to a really nice pub on Friday evening and had a lovely meal, then on Saturday (which was a beautiful sunny day), we went to a place called Marsden and had another meal in a lovely restaurant there...here are some pictures, it could almost be the scottish highlands.....

The restaurant overlooked the River Colne, and we sat and chatted in there for ages after scoffing a three course meal.  We walked quite a bit of the meal off by strolling around the shops and then walking back up a  steep hill to where we left the car.

We watched a film on Saturday evening and then spent a leisurely Sunday morning drinking coffee and chatting before I headed off back home after lunch.

Sorry....only just got home

Sorry for the lack of posts, I have only just arrived home from a lovely weekend at my friend's house and an evening of babysitting for little Noah.

I went to my friend's house on Friday morning and have spent a really lovely weekend eating, walking and chatting...with the odd glass of wine thrown in.

I left on Sunday afternoon, arrived home, unpacked, had a a snack and then went to my daughter's to babysit Noah as her and her OH were going to a birthday party at a local pub.  I am now thoroughly knackered and am going to bed...I shall post about my adventures later on today (it is now 12.08 am on Monday morning).

Night Night one and all xxxxxxx
